Romac Express Services Ltd, a technical outsourcing business, has been the subject of a multimillion pound deal that provides a strong framework for future growth. NBGI Private Equity led the transaction under which the McMenamin family have realised part of their shareholding and two new directors, Greg Stone and John McDonald, have also acquired an equity stake.

Nationwide Autocentres, the UK’s largest car servicing and MOT provider, has completed the purchase of 50 service centres from the AA. In addition, all Nationwide centres will become “AA Approved Service Centres”, providing recovery points for AA patrols and fleet maintenance for the AA’s own vehicles as well as being recommended by the AA to its members and customers.

A spicy Teesside onion bhaji sandwich proved too hot for its rivals to land the title of Britain’s best new sandwich. The malted bread sandwich from Middlesbrough-based firm Brambles Foods took the honours at the British Sandwich Association’s annual "Sammy" awards.
